Before and since the 2016 Presidential election, HVCC has advocated for hundreds of immigrants throughout the Hudson Valley by developing programs and actions that allowed for a community-based leadership body and active community participation. Grassroots in the local community among those without or formerly without legal status, we are a trusted source of advice and help. HVCC’s most notable strengths lie with its deep commitment to the community and working for social change. We center and empower immigrants and mobilize around their needs in goal-directed actions.
We have advocated for and protected many more, funding legal defense and bonds for detained immigrants and those threatened with deportation. We continue to support the community of immigrants in ways large and small in the Hudson Valley.
HVCC has succeeded in developing an active and dynamic presence in the Hudson Valley. A history of mass mobilizing and rapid response to immigrant justice issues has created a foundation of trust with community members and “gate-keepers”. This has allowed us to coordinate programs and actions with other organizations and institutions of support of the community.
HVCC provides a forum for grassroots organizing on immigrant-related issues that no other organization in the Hudson Valley region is able to provide.
